Developing
Effective Leaders
In today’s world, executives need to be able to think
strategically and manage global issues with ease. This
two-day team leadership session will help Eaton’s PPD
leaders focus on critical leadership competencies at this
level, becoming more strategic in their thinking, improving
their communication effectiveness, and building trust and
developing stronger relationships within the group.
We will explore what it takes to be an effective senior
leader in today’s global economy, how to balance both
functional and divisional roles and responsibilities, and
how to build trust and foster a positive culture throughout
the organization. Detailed working sessions will focus on
issues specific to Eaton, especially around building
strategic thinking and improving communication. Your
consultant will also help the group focus on developing
actionable solutions for moving forward.
Participants will focus on:
• Becoming A More Strategic Leader
In today’s fast paced world, true leaders need to be
able to think strategically and manage globally. They need
to be able to focus on how one area affects another.
Participants explore what competencies are needed to move
to a bigger picture, more strategic perspective,
recognizing how all the pieces interface.
• Critical Competencies of Global Leaders
Examine what are the critical competencies of today’s
leaders. How can you widen your outlook to better manage in
a global work place? How can you foster innovation and
integration? What needs to be communicated to whom and how?
• Developing Trust and Mutual Respect
Trust is a key element to building strong relationships and
to improving team effectiveness. Work to build trust with
peers and others who influence your group, one step at a
time.
• Balancing Functional And Divisional Roles
Executives today often have not only divisional
responsibilities, but functional responsibilities as well.
Explore how to balance the two effectively and how to make
sure you are prioritizing appropriately.
• Making Sure We’re All Accountable
Since each of us affects the overall success of the team,
every member must not only be aware of their
responsibilities, but must also keep others informed and be
held accountable for their span of responsibility.
• Creating A Consistent Culture
One of the roles of an executive team is to create and
foster an integrated culture within the company. This group
will clarify what they want that culture to look like going
forward and ways of maintaining that culture as the company
continues to grow.
• Developing Actionable Solutions and Strategies
The group will work together to develop actionable
solutions to the issues that are impeding their progress.
They will develop specific action steps for putting those
solutions to work.
