Influencing
Without Authority
We are often in situations where we need to influence
results, but do not have direct authority over the person
we are trying to influence. Using the “Situational
Influence Model,” you will be able to develop and
practice basic influencing skills. Learn to use specific
techniques such as connecting, attracting, persuading, and
asserting. Analyze when it is most appropriate to use each
of these different styles and actually practice influencing
others. The focus shifts from preoccupation with our own
goals and frustrations to understanding and satisfying the
needs of others.
You will explore:
• The “Situational Influence Model”
Learn how different styles of influencing can be used
positively and powerfully. Then learn how to put that model
into practice.
• Influencing Techniques That Work
Explore a variety of proven techniques to influence others.
Examine which techniques work in which circumstances.
• Choosing The Appropriate Influencing Style
Analyze the critical factors that determine which style
will be most productive in any given situation.
• Identifying Real-Life Situations Which Require
Influence
Prior to the program, you will identify an ongoing
“Influence Situation” and then design an
influencing plan to implement back at work.
• Discovering The Power Of Mutual Exchange
Learn to get what you want by helping others get what they
want. This allows you to shift your focus from your own
goals and frustrations to those of others.
