Rocket your team to new heights!
Looking for a totally new experience that targets teamwork, leadership, communication, and coordination? Space Cargo, LTI's hydro-rocket program is it! This is by far one of the most unique business simulations on the market. Rather than doing a pen-and-paper survival simulation, or constructing toy models, here, participants build actual rockets that can reach altitudes of several hundred feet. But this is much more than just launching rockets.
Just as in business, the team will have to evaluate and identify their target market (decisions that impact future opportunities), and then develop a strategy to maximize their return on investment. This requires considerable coordination between teams and continuous communication. Maintaining a competitive edge requires full engagement of the entire team.
The Space Cargo rockets program also targets leadership at numerous levels. From a strategic perspective, oversight of the entire project is guided by participants assuming the leadership roles of CEO, CFO, and HR. Their goal is to provide focus and consistency without micromanaging. At a more practical level, each team defines their own leadership structure and tracks their overall team performance. The critical concept here is participatory leadership where everyone on the team assumes responsibility for the overall success of the team. The importance of team and leadership skills is the foundation of the Space Cargo rocket program.
The teams are also faced with managing deliverables along a pre-set timeline (analogous to business quarters). As with many new endeavors, their first step is training and development. This enables the team to define their overall capacity and begin identifying best practices and critical team metrics. Their second step is to transfer these concepts into practical application, or prototyping (a low risk opportunity to try new ideas). Finally they are charged with producing a final product, which requires team decision making and individual support for the final plan. The risks are higher and there's often only one chance at success.
The strength of the Space Cargo rockets program is our ability to adapt it to your specific training needs. Here are a few of the more common link-points between business and the Space Cargo rockets simulation:
- communication within matrix organizations
- empowerment and personal responsibility
- personal leadership (at all levels)
- results-based performance tracking
- business acumen (understanding key business drivers)
- leveraging flexibility within the context of organizational goals
- managing time and deliverables
- group problem solving and decision making
- iterative process for quality improvement
- cross-team communication
